- 필수 유전자의 기능성 동정에 다른 기능성 유전체 연구보다 많은 장점을 가진다.
- 변이체의 표현형이 우성으로 발생 초기에 쉽게 변이체를 동정할 수 있다.
cf. insertional mutagenesis는 변이체의 표현형이 열성으로 나타남.
- Multigene family에서도 in vivo 상태로 특정 유전자의 기능을
동정할 수 있다.
- 필수 유전자의 antisense disruption은 변이체의 회복되지 않는
치사를 이끌 것이다. 그러므로 inducible vector의 사용이 필수적이다.
